Fay Wells - Celebrating the 100th year of her birth - Ninety Nine #5 (charter member), friend & colleague of Amelia Earhart, globetrotter, war & White House correspondent, was born on Oct. 15th, 1908 soloed a Curtiss biplane in 1929, survived a crash by parachuting to safety, worked as a reporter in Moscow in the 1930's where she was also permitted to fly, assisted Wiley Post with his first Around the World Flight, and was co-founder of the International Forest of Friendship in Atchison, Kansas (Amelia's hometown); she mentored young flyers, and helped lead the way for women seeking careers in aviation and journalism. She died in 2003 at the age of 94. October 15th, 2008 marks the 100th anniversary of her birth. This retrospective is a salute to this extraordinary lady.
