Jake Tries to Forbid Paulina to Help Kevin Clear His Name

Jake and Paulina are arguing about Kevin and his possible role in June Martin's death (Jake thinks Kevin killed June; Paulina thinks June died of an overdose) at D&M when Kevin arrives and interrupts them. Kevin and Jake spar verbally about their respective legal problems. Then Kevin breaks the news that Kelsey might file sexual discrimination charges against Jamie. Jake says that sounds like great news to him; Paulina is horrified at both the possibility that Jamie will have charges brought against him and Jake's reaction to that news. Jake asks Kevin where he fits in--as expert witness to the character of the defendant? Kevin replies that seeing as Jake's creative tape editing started this whole mess, Kevin thinks Jake owes Jamie. Paulina asks if the tape really proves that Kelsey was discriminated against. Kevin says maybe not, but Jake's speedy delivery of the tape to Iris and the rest of the hospital board brought a lot of attention to Jamie and Kelsey's personal relationship, and a lot of heat for Jamie. Jake says that Jamie was doing the hucklebuck with Kelsey and he got caught, and the only thing Jake is sorry for is that if Jamie comes after him, Paulina gets caught in the middle. Otherwise Jake hopes that both Jamie and Kevin get what's coming to them. Paulina offers Kevin her condolences about June Martin. Jake and Kevin start arguing about June's death then, until Paulina tells Jake to let it go. Jake is then stunned when Paulina says she invited Kevin there. Kevin came to talk to Paulina to see if she knows anything about the night Lucas was shot, because Kevin is a suspect in Lucas's murder and has to clear his name. Jake tells Kevin to look in the mirror to find the murderer, and then he forbids Paulina to help Kevin. Paulina tells Jake she'll do what she wants to do. Kevin tells her they'll just have to do it another time; he has an appointment at the hospital anyway. Jake tells Kevin he'll have to talk to Paulina over the phone, because Jake certainly isn't going to leave Kevin alone with the person Jake loves. Jake's not going to take any chances--no offense to Kevin. Kevin says he didn't think Jake would stick his neck out for Kevin; he's only Kevin's brother. After Kevin leaves, Paulina asks Jake if he had to do that. Jake tells Paulina that June Martin is dead, and the city is already trying to solve a double homicide. Jake says it won't be long before they realize that the prime suspect is the assistant D.A., and that he hasn't killed two people, he's killed four (Lucas, Rick Madison, Rita Brooke, and June Martin, for those of you keeping track at home).
