Scene from the original Ghost in the Shell. English dub. A damaged cybernetic body is recovered by Section 9. Although it has not one human brain cell, it exhibits the properties of having a consciousness. Section 6 comes to claim the robotic body, but as members from the two sections converse, the robotic body suddenly speaks. Released in 1995 in Japan, Ghost in the Shell soon became a cult classic of anime outside of its home country. It was one of the first animated movies to seamlessly blend CG with traditional animation, and helped to inspire the visual style of The Matrix.
