The report findings are the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the media proclaims. Here are the exact finding of the report, word for word: "I find that, although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Gov. Palin, it was LIKELY a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Gov. Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper & lawful exercise of her constitutional & statutory authority to hire & fire executive branch dept. heads." No. That is NOT what the report said. The law says that. You just put the her name in front of it & claimed that's what it says. The report says the following, verbatum: "Gov. Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper & lawful exercise of her constitutional & statutory authority to hire & fire executive branch dept. heads." The nearly 300-page report does not recommend sanctions or a criminal investigation. Fighting back against allegations she may have fired her then-Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan, for personal reasons, Palin argued in a legal filing that SHE FIRED MONEGAN BECAUSE HE HAD A "rogue mentality" & was bucking her administration's directives. "The last straw," her lawyer argued, came when he planned a trip to Washington, D.C., to seek federal funds for an aggressive anti-sexual-violence program. The project, expected to cost from $10 million to $20 million a year for five years, would have been the first of its kind in Alaska, which leads the nation in reported forcible rape. The McCain-Palin campaign echoed the charge in a press release, concurrent with Palin's legal filing. Yet the very same committee agrees that personal motivation was NOT the reason. You cannot PROVE personal interest in this case. You can try to make an ancillary connection. But Alaska law certainly contains clauses regarding the authority of the gubernatorial offical in choosing what kind of person is best qualified for a public position & what is best in general for the public working environment. And finally let me ask, if she DID fire him solely for the reason that he tazed a ten year old child & threatened the Governor's father's life...does anybody really care?? I mean, is this supposed to dissuade someone from supporting her?? Even if the only reason she fired him WAS personal dislike of people who tazer 10 year olds & threaten people's lives.... does that disqualify her from being an effective VP? OF COURSE NOT! In fact, I would be far more reticent to support her if I found out she KNEW of a trooper who tazered ten year olds and did nothing about him! They want Obama to close this thing, and they will hit HARD these last few weeks, knowing he isn't a closer and hasn't ever been. No one has a RIGHT to not be fired. This isn't France. If they don't like your character or history, guess what people won't hire you. But if they already have, and THEN bring your character into disrepute... you SHOULD be fired! Another thing: This new story of McCain being booed for calling Obama a decent man. He was not applauded by the media for standing up against the few loud hecklers. No no. He got booed.
