Safety assured to civilians fleeing un-cleared areas 05/09

Participating in the "Thulawa" political programme telecast by ITN last night, the Minister said the outstanding service of the disciplined and gallant war heroes is an example to the world. The Government's desire is to ensure a better future for the civilians who had not enjoyed freedom. Their children are forcibly conscripted. Permission had to be sought to leave their villages. They have not witnessed development. Assuring them a bright future is a noble task. Minister Anura Yapa added that there are no problems if the Government is not hindering the civilians in humanitarian operations and if medicine and other necessities are granted and they are being treated humanely.
