Dr. Ronald Watkins, DC - Chiropractic Adjustment

Back

Dr. Watkins (1915-2007) demonstrates his adjustments on a patient, circa 1990, in his private practice at La Crescenta, California. He graduated from Lincoln in 1942. He had directoral and teaching positions at Lincoln, Canadian Memorial, Life, and Cleveland in Los Angeles. He has been published extensively. At 83, shortly after his wife died, in 1997 he pioneered Chiropractic in Thailand, first with brief resistance by the authorities, and later accepted and revered for his work. In the 80s, his students at Cleveland were so amazed at his technique, they called him "God". This home video demonstration suggests that he was no ordinary Chiropractor. There are a few biographical obituaries on the Internet. A story is told of a student of his who asked him to examine her dog who was lame in the back legs. He successfully adjusted the dog. Dr. Watkins personally told me that he was asked to examine a race horse at Santa Anita who had its head down and didn't look well. Having never done a horse before, he explored the horse's neck, tried an adjustment, and it worked. He died March 24, 2007 after a series of strokes and heart attacks, and had a traditional Thai funeral ceremony.
